Minister Miriam Dalli is Malta’s Minister for the Environment, Energy, and Public Cleanliness. She leads national efforts on sustainability, energy security, and renewable energy, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050. Her work includes improving energy infrastructure, promoting offshore renewables, and enhancing Malta’s energy resilience through stronger connections with mainland Europe. Dalli also focuses on increasing green spaces, enhancing biodiversity, and reducing pollution. She supports Malta’s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, balancing economic growth with environmental protection.
Her Grand Harbour regeneration project aims to revitalise the area as a sustainable economic and cultural hub. Previously, Dalli served as Minister for Energy, Enterprise, and Sustainable Development (2020–2022), stabilising Malta’s economy during COVID-19. Following her re-election in 2022, as Minister for the Environment, Energy and Enterprise, Dalli focused on protecting Maltese families from rising energy costs during the Ukraine war, making Malta one of the few European countries with stable energy prices.
Before her parliamentary role, Dalli served in the European Parliament (2014–2020), gaining recognition for her work on emissions reduction in transport. She was named “MEP of the Year” for Energy in 2016 and featured in Politico’s 28 Class of 2019. Dalli holds a doctorate degree in Law, a Master’s degree in European Studies and Business Administration, and a Bachelor’s degree in Communications.
