
Prof. Alexander Micallef holds a Ph.D. degree in engineering from the University of Malta, Malta. He is currently an associate professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Malta. From 2015 to 2024, he was a guest lecturer in a PhD course on “Power Quality and Synchronization Techniques in Microgrids” at the Centre for Research on Microgrids, affiliated to the Department of Energy at Aalborg University (Denmark). He has supervised research in electrical engineering at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Prof. Micallef has published more than 50 international peer-reviewed journal and conference papers on microgrids, port microgrids, electrical transportation, and power quality.
Prof. Micallef has also significant experience in national and international funded projects. He is an Associate Editor for IEEE Access and IET Smart Grids. He is a senior member of the IEEE, the secretary of the IEEE Malta Section and a member of CIGRE.
