Port Engineer Sanna Supponen has twenty years of experience in structural- and civil engineering. She is an Imperial College London graduate and has worked in a structural design consultancy in London and a civil engineering consultancy in Helsinki. In the last six years she has also been project managing port of Helsinki's onshore power installations with the support of the port’s own electrical engineers, design consultants and a Finnish electrical contractor. Her own contribution is on the civil engineering side- about how the cables and infrastructure can be retrofit on the quays. As well as onshore power solutions for regular line traffic, cruise ships and cargo, she is especially keen to learn about sustainable construction methods, circular economy of quay construction materials and how to best collect, keep and maintain digital information of the port.
